Cavaliers vs 76ersIt is difficult to find anything impressive from performance of a team that has a 18-55 record for the season, but considering the lineup the 76ers have, they have done a good job keeping scores respectable over the last couple of months. This is because while their opponents often take their foot off the gas pedal when having a safe lead, the 76ers will keep playing for 48 minutes – even if they are down by a lot.
Starting from a February the 76ers have played 25 games and have lost only in 3 of them by more than 16 points (IND, BOS and LAC). So even the teams that have taken the full advantage are not the absolute top teams of the league but twice potentially a lottery teams and once the Clippers, who are (as we described few days ago) just an horrible match up for the teams that lack quality. Top teams have used games against the 76ers to give their starters a rest or less minutes on the court, but it is also a fact that teams take no joy in humiliating the 76ers, so most of the time they are just happy with a safe lead and do not mind final score being closer than it maybe should.
Much of the same will apply for the game tonight. Cleveland and Philadelphia have met 2 times this season and 76ers actually won the first meeting, but lost the 2nd game by 13 points. Sure the Cavaliers are favorites to win, but we don`t think they use this game as a chance to humiliate the team that has nothing to do with their goals this season. With top seed in the Eastern Conference officially gone for the Cavs and their 2nd seed looking safe, the Cavaliers will use this game to play their bench a bit more than usual. Cleveland will likely win, but the 76ers will keep the score respectable.
Take the 76ers +16.5 points @1.952 from Pinnacle with 2/5 units.
