The Scottish League Cup starts today. Brechin, who dropped out of last year’s league two, will welcome Livingston. The home team has weakened compared to the previous year, with a total of 13 players available, of which only 1 goalkeeper. Garry Wood, Iain Davidson and former Forfar midfielder Murray Mackintosh arrived last week. These players could barely make it together, so the team isn’t used to, to put it mildly. Not to mention fitness issues. David Martindale’s team finished 6th in the Scottish Premier League last year and has long since started preparing for this year’s season. Livingston is beyond two training matches. He won them all with confidence. I think today the away team is reaping a confident victory over the still under construction Brechin City.
